Join Jamie Davis on her paranormal adventures around the country. The first project resulted in Haunted Asylums, Prisons, and Sanatoriums being picked up with Llewellyn Worldwide (http://llewellyn.com/product.php?ean=9780738737508). Jamie and her co-author, Samuel Queen, attended ghost hunts at Ashmore Estates, Waverly Hills, St. Albans Sanatorium, Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Yorktown Hospital, Farrar School, Old Tooele Hospital, Mansfield Reformatory, West Virginia Penitentiary, and Missouri State Penitentiary. From chasing "Red Eyes" to seeing a shadow man on death row, the stories just keep getting weirder and weirder as the investigations progress! The book is a travel guide for paranormal enthusiasts and ghost hunters. It just may challenge your views on life after death, heaven and hell, and even God.

Ashmore Estates is a former poor farm located in Ashmore, Illinois. Possible hauntings are thought to be attributed to Elva L. Skinner and Joe Bloxom. In 1880, the Mortality Tables related to Ashmore Estates show that Elva L. Skinner's cause of death was fire. She was seven years old. Many people have captured EVPs that sound like a little girl saying "Mama." Joe Bloxom was a former caretaker who died at Ashmore Estates after being struck by a train.

Waverly Hills, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the most widely regarded haunted buildings in the world. This former tuberculosis hospital is said to have seen thousands of deaths. So many people fell victim to the White Plague here that the employee tunnel eventually had to be turned into a body chute to transport victims out of sight of the other patients. Waverly Hills is probably most famous for the shadow people that lurk on the fourth floor. And no, they don't always wait for darkness to fall before they make an appearance.

St. Albans Sanatorium in Radford, Virginia is a former psychiatric facility. There is still a bowling alley in the basement that investigators can explore, and it is very much known as an active hotspot for ghost hunters. Other popular areas to explore at St. Albans Sanatorium include the upstairs rooms where the suicide bathroom is, the boiler room, and the dragon room.

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum can be found in Weston, West Virginia. The facility is massive, and even contains a fantastic museum that chronicles the timeline of mental health services. You will even find a few rooms dedicated to artwork created by former patients! Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is a fascinating place to discover in the daytime, or while ghost hunting at night. It is hard to pick a hotspot of activity here, because it would appear that the entire campus of the asylum is active!

Yorktown, Texas is the home of the Yorktown Memorial Hospital. This place should be voted scariest building in the country. This is the home of the stalker female ghost, who followed Jamie right off the property. Also, where else are you going to find a jar of teeth on a shelf?! Yorktown Hospital has been fully dressed by the owners, and even has an intact former chapel. If you are looking for ghosts, this place is not to be missed.

The Farrar School in Maxwell, Iowa offers a unique location to explore and ghost hunt. You will have access to old classrooms, an auditorium with a stage, and even the gym. We still aren't sure what exactly is causing the hauntings, but are convinced that something is definitely going on there! Many witnesses have seen a shadow person, including the owner herself! Is it a small boy, or something else?

Old Tooele Hospital, located in Tooele, Utah is referred to by some as Angel Hospital. In addition to that, the place is thought to be a hub of spirits coming and going. Club Dead, maybe? Literally, a shadow has been seen bouncing up and down the hallway, and that includes the wall and ceiling! Old Tooele Hospital turns into a haunted attraction (Asylum 49) for the Halloween season, and workers at the attraction frequently report real hauntings while they are on the job as actors!

Mansfield Reformatory is a monstrous former prison located in Mansfield, Ohio. Mansfield Reformatory is probably most famous for being the film location for Shawshank Redemption. Other claims to fame include the East Cell Block, which is the largest free standing steel cell block in the world. There are so many areas to explore at Mansfield Reformatory that you really need to see this place in the daytime before you go on a ghost hunt.

Blood Alley a/k/a West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia is a humbling investigation indeed. Just knowing that there are 998 reported deaths on site should send a chill down your spine as you contemplate all the other deaths that surely occurred - but were never reported. Original prison artwork is still on the walls in the cafeteria and in the Sugar Shack. Investigators will get to explore the psych ward, North Hall, the R.D. Wall Basement Room, and even Wagon Gate. West Virginia State Penitentiary is a must see for every ghost hunter.

Missouri State Penitentiary lets ghost hunters into the gas chamber and down into the death row cells, where a shape has been known to walk among visitors. In Housing Unit 3, venture down the middle stairs past the showers into the dungeon. Men have been known to be driven insane down here in the pitch blackness. Enjoy your tour here at Missouri State Penitentiary, but tread with caution. Lest the shadow man follow you back where you came from!
